what would YOU do with an extra $10k?

Hey hey Reader!

Random thought and question cuz I'm having lots of wisdomisms lately, and I'm not used to having this many wise thoughts in my head, so I figured I'd email you to dump one of em. ๐Ÿ˜†

What would you do if you woke up and had $10,000 you totally weren't expecting in your bank account?

Finally pay off the student loan from that puppet arts degree you got in 1992? (it was supposed to really take off)

Book that trip to The Motherland you've been telling yourself you were gonna take for years?

Convert it to 0.23768404 Bitcoin?

Get a BBL?

Me, I'd invest in a coach. Because coaches are awesome, because they help you make more money.

I mean, it might not be as fun as a 95% complete Beanie Baby collection, but I can buy that after I see my increased profits, right?

Honestly, I think about stuff like this all the time, especially before I started making online coursesโ€”because it felt completely BS back then.

Look, the idea of money appearing randomly in your account feels foreign. I know that. It just doesn't happenโ€”especially when you're working a 9-5, and your current income is set in stone.

But it absolutely, positively happens.

How?

Passive income. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Okay, now forget about the fantasy part of it for a sec.

Forget that you have this income from your job that won't be changing until your next annual review or bonus.

That's active income.

You had to trade your hours for dollars, like a sad human.

And while you were working, you couldn't do anything else.

But today, someone made $10,000 or more in course salesโ€”without having to do that dance, and while they weren't even present at their computer.

It wasn't you, and it wasn't me ๐Ÿ˜… but it was somebody!

Probably Amy Porterfield, definitely Grant Cardone and all dem folks. They're the real crazy-rich ones making money with their knowledge.

But here's the thing:

The people making this kind of money aren't busting their asses doing it.

Maybe they traded *one* hour for a workshop or webinar that got people riled up with credit cards in hand.

Yeah, they worked hard up front to build the system, like you'd do with anything.

But even that was just computer work.

No scouting locations, managing inventory, hiring full-time employees out the gate, paying property taxes...

None of it.

And because of their hard work, combined with the low, low startup costs, they're making the majority of their incomes passively.

I've looked up a lot of ways to make money over the years.

Passive income is the only way within your control that you could potentially wake up to $10,000 that you didn't have to put in direct, active time for to earn.

Randomly, even! People don't need to have you around to buy.

So, curious about this wild endeavor, where you create a product that changes the world for the better and it can earn you as much money as you like without having to be present?

Ready to roll up on The Motherland with your new BBL you paid for with Bitcoin? (the student loans can come later)

Life in Code #34: greetings from sunny Florida!

happy thursday devfriend! I missed you so much!!! I truly hope you're having a great week so far, and good things are happening for you. ๐Ÿ’• Since it's been a while, you maaaaay have forgotten who I even am. I'm Nicole, creator of La Vie en Code, a resource blog/podcast/membership community for self-taught web developers! Deerfield Beach, FL ๐ŸŒด You may also know me as tech's oddball programmatic problem solving savant, and/or my presence on Twitter as @lavie_encode. ๐Ÿ˜ Generally speaking, I've...

happy thursday devfriend! I hope your week is going well so far!! ๐Ÿ’•We're almost there! I'm so glad we're an hour in the future at last! I feel wonderful; even if it's cold as hell up here in Massachusetts ๐Ÿฅถ, the sun feels warm, and the days are longer. As a seasonal depression sufferer, this is like the lights being turned on after so long, and I'm loving it. ๐Ÿ˜Š So, in last week's newsletter, I talked with you about inconsistency and how I'm (actively!!) working alongside you to work past some...

happy thursday devfriend! A little almost-Friday love for you since I've been neglecting the newsletter, haha! I hope you're out there being great and most importantly, staying safe. ๐Ÿ˜˜I'm getting outside in nature today with my partner to play for a while, because I've realized exactly how important it is for my mental health. Yeah... I have a bunch to talk about in terms of consistency because of my own (what feels like regularly-scheduled at this point) break in consistency. I think I'm...
